Judging Criteria for prospective show judges

The current criteria for those wishing to apply for inclusion on the show judging lists for the GSPA are as follows:
List A1
For persons who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the breed and have completed their first appointment.
To have the support of the GSPA.

List A2
For persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and to have the support of the GSPA.

List A3
All persons the GSPA would support to award Kennel Club Challenge Certificates but are not yet approved by the Kennel Club.

Breed Specialists
To have attended a seminar by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Rules and Regulations and Judging Procedures.
To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.
To have attended a Conformation and Movement “Hands on Assessment” conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.
To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
To have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed and have the support of the GSPA.
To have judged the breed at a minimum of 15 open shows (or Championship shows without CC’s) with a good geographical spread.
To have judged a minimum of 200 GSP’s.
To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they have obtained their first entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances).
To have stewarded at 12 shows over a minimum of 3 years. (Stewarding at a Championship on each day counts as seperate stewarding sessions).

Non Breed Specialists
To have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in any one breed (to include 5 years in this breed) and have the support of the GSPA.
To have judged the breed at a minimum of 15 open shows (or Championship shows without CC’s) with a good geographical spread.
To have judged a minimum of 200 GSP’s.
To have awarded CC’s in at least one other breed.
To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs of any breed when they have obtained their first entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances).

The GSPA would prefer all persons both Breed and Non Breed Specialists to have judged a Breed Open Show.

List B (Breed and Non Breed Specialists)
All persons that the GSPA would support to judge at Open Shows or Championship shows without Challenge Certificates for the breed.

To have judged a minimum of 10 shows with a good geographical spread.
To have judged at least 50 GSP’s over a minimum of 4 years.
To have attended a breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
To have stewarded at a minimum of 5 shows.

C List (Breed and Non Breed Specialists)
All persons that the GSPA would support to judge at Limited and Open Shows and to have been involved with the breed for a minimum of 3 years.

All applicants will be placed before the Committee for consideration and inclusion is at the discretion of the Committee by a majority vote in favour.

It should be noted that achievement of the foregoing criteria does not automatically mean acceptance for inclusion on a list.
