About Working Tests
Posted on March 30, 2008 by Maureen Nixon in category Field Events
Working tests are aimed at testing both dog and handler along the lines of a shooting day. They are a enjoyable way to start competing with your dog in field events and testing how the training of you dog is progressing.

Individual tests include a hunting test, several retrieves on land and a water retrieve.
The complexity of the tests will vary according to the terrain available at each venue and the classification of the test.
There are three classes for competitors to enter, dependent on the dogs age and ability.
- PUPPY - Dog or Bitch between 6 and 18 months old on the day of the test.
- NOVICE - Confined to dogs which have not gained a field trial award or 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in an open GWT or 1st in a novice GWT (puppy excluded)
- OPEN - Dogs and bitches of open class standard.
Come and enjoy a day out, whilst testing both you and your dog’s training - or just come along and watch. Either way you will be made most welcome.
