About Us

on pointWelcome to the website of the German Shorthaired Pointer Association (GSPA). The GSPA was formed in 1972 by a group of breed enthusiasts.

GSP in water

The German Shorthaired Pointer Association exists for the purpose of combining enthusiasm and experience in the development of the breed in Great Britain. The association aims to act only in the real interests of German Shorthaired Pointers and their owners.

The Association holds various events throughout the year, Field trials, Gundog working and spring pointing tests, Open and Championship breed shows.

Tuition events on a variety of subjects are frequently in the calendar, together with other special GSP activities. This website provides information on upcoming events and how to contact the members of the Committee.
For working test information please contact Steve Crane whose details can be found on this site.

Best in Show at our recent Championship Show was Mr M & Mrs S Harris’s Barleyarch Paxo. Headline results elsewhere on site.

Membership renewals for 2010 were due on the 1st March renewals can be accepted up until the 31st March.
GSPA rule 13 a ‘Any member failing to pay their annual subscription by the 31st March (i.e. within one calendar month of being due) shall thereupon cease to be a member of the association.’
If this is the case and you wish to retain your membership benefits then a new membership application will need to be made before the end of April (next committee meeting first Sunday in May).

We now have schedules and entry forms for our two working tests, Fairford, Gloucestershire on the 27th June and Burton Lazars, Leicestershire on the 25th July (now also available as .pdf versions my apologies to those who could not download these items earlier). They are available to download from this site or by contacting our Working Test co-ordinator Steve Crane.
